The Automotive Technician is responsible for performing inspections, maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and vehicle upfitting activities on automobiles, vans, buses, and fleet vehicles. Technicians are assigned responsibilities based on skill level, experience, certifications, and demonstrated competency. This position plays a critical role in ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant vehicle operation while maintaining high standards of workmanship, productivity, and customer service. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 0-2 years of mechanical experience preferred.
  • 2-5 years of automotive repair experience.
  • Ability to perform repairs independently.
  • Possession of most tools required for assigned job duties.
  • Seven (7) or more years of automotive technician experience.
  • Advanced diagnostic and repair proficiency.
  • Possession of most tools necessary to perform assigned work.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record

  • EPA 609/A/C Certification
  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or ability to obtain within six months

Responsibilities

  • Perform oil changes, lubrication services, and fluid checks.
  • Rotate tires and perform basic tire services.
  • Complete preventive maintenance inspections.
  • Replace basic wear items including filters, batteries, belts, brake pads, and wiper systems.
  • Use diagnostic equipment to identify basic vehicle issues.
  • Follow maintenance checklists and service procedures.
  • Assist higher-level technicians with repairs.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Perform vehicle transport and portering duties as needed.
  • Diagnose and repair light-duty steering and suspension systems.
  • Service and repair braking systems.
  • Perform comprehensive inspections and maintenance services.
  • Conduct tune-ups and drivability repairs.
  • Perform diesel maintenance including oil and filter services.
  • Diagnose and service automotive HVAC systems.
  • Complete multi-point inspections and repair recommendations.
  • Utilize computerized diagnostic equipment.
  • Document work orders and repair findings accurately.
  • Assist with training and mentoring Technician I employees.
  • Perform advanced diagnostics on electrical, drivability, and computer-controlled systems.
  • Complete engine, transmission, and heavy-line repairs.
  • Repair and diagnose diesel systems.
  • Service and repair HVAC systems.
  • Perform vehicle alignments.
  • Service heavy-duty suspension and braking systems.
  • Conduct welding and exhaust repairs.
  • Perform vehicle upfitting and modifications.
  • Troubleshoot complex vehicle concerns using advanced diagnostic technology.
  • Participate in advanced training and technical development.
  • Provide technical guidance to lower-level technicians.
  • Ensure repairs meet company, DOT, and safety standards.
  • Inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair vehicles and equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance services.
  • Test vehicle systems and components.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and computerized equipment.
  • Complete repair orders and support documentation accurately.
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
  • Maintain productivity and quality standards.
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe.
  • Participate in ongoing technical training.
  • Record hours worked accurately using company systems.
