About The Position

Car City on 28th Street in Wyoming, MI, is looking to hire a full-time Automotive Technician / Mechanic to join our service department. Requirements

  • Two (2) current State of Michigan Mechanic Certifications
  • Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record that meets Company insurance requirements for operating Company vehicles.
  • Current or previous automotive technician or mechanic experience in the areas for which certifications are held
  • Full-time availability and flexible to work overtime as needed.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds and perform physical job duties requiring manual dexterity, flexibility, bending, twisting, and prolonged standing.
  • Adequate near vision and hearing ability to safely perform job responsibilities.
  • Ability to meet established shop productivity standards.
  • Follow safety protocols and training requirements.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • three (3) or more certifications preferred.
  • heavy experience is preferred.
  • ASE certifications are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Examine vehicles to determine extent of damage or malfunctions.
  • Repair/replace/adjust as needed; test and adjust repaired systems to meet manufacturers' performance specifications; follow checklists to ensure all important parts are examined, including belts, hoses, steering systems, spark plugs, brake and fuel systems, wheel bearings, and/or other potentially troublesome areas.
  • Review repair or work orders to obtain descriptions of vehicle problems, and discuss work to be performed & future repair requirements with management as necessary.
  • Perform routine and scheduled maintenance services and ensure maintenance meets standards.
