The Office of Fleet Management is looking for an ASE Certified automotive mechanical repair technician. This position involves performing complex automotive mechanical repairs, preventive maintenance, and diagnostics in an automotive repair and maintenance garage environment. The role also includes providing senior-grade training assistance and mentorship to less experienced automotive mechanics, observing and advising the shop supervisor on repair quality, and performing major mechanical repairs and computer diagnostics on powertrain management systems. Responsibilities extend to the removal, repair, or replacement of major mechanical component assemblies such as engines, transmissions, transfer cases, and drive axle assemblies. The technician will perform precise diagnosis and mechanical repairs on automotive system modules and electronics using current diagnostic equipment, and utilize their knowledge to mentor and assist team members. Expert-level knowledge and skills in brake systems are required, as well as accurate analysis and mechanical repairs for automotive drivability issues, including drivetrain, driveline components, and suspension. The role also involves accurate troubleshooting, repair, and service of automotive heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems using current service and test equipment, and performing preventive maintenance procedures like oil changes, vehicle inspections, tire rotations, and tire mounting/balancing.
