This position can be filled as an Automotive Technician Apprentice II, Automotive Tech or Automotive Technician Sr. depending on qualifying candidate's experience. The role involves performing complex repairs and maintenance on various equipment, traveling to job sites, and working with customers. Advancement within the apprentice program is based on meeting qualifications, experience, special qualifications, and completing skills assessments. The position requires the ability to use diagnostic tools and schematics to identify and correct issues with electrical systems, engines, transmissions, and aerial systems. It also includes making routine repairs to internal combustion engines, exhaust systems, emission control systems, chassis, steering, and suspension. Basic cutting, welding, and fabrication skills are necessary, and the employee may be required to support off-system storm response. The role also involves advanced diagnostics and repair of various vehicle systems, including hydraulics, and may require assuming supervisory responsibilities.
