About The Position

The Skilled Technician performs vehicle repair and maintenance as assigned, in accordance with dealership and factory standards. The role builds Customer loyalty by developing trust and ensuring confidence in AutoNation as a caregiver for vehicle safety and reliability. Technicians receive factory training, OEM certification support, and opportunities for advancement across AutoNation’s nationwide locations.

Success is measured by achieving targeted production and Customer Satisfaction Index results. Career growth opportunities may include Master-Certified Technician, Service Advisor, and Service Management roles.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of Automotive Dealership Technician experience.
• Experience diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing automotive systems, including engine, transmission, electrical, steering, suspension, brakes, and air conditioning systems.
• Automotive technical training, varying based on store needs.
• Attention to detail.
• Organization and follow-up skills.
• Valid in-state driver’s license and an acceptable, safe driving record that can be maintained.
• Passion for cars and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Perform vehicle repair and maintenance work outlined on repair orders efficiently and accurately, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
• Communicate regularly with the Parts Department and Service Advisors to manage production and Customer communication.
• Diagnose the cause of malfunctions and perform repairs when authorized by the Customer.
• Conduct multi-point inspections and make appropriate recommendations to support vehicle safety and reliability.
• Document work performed on each vehicle on the repair order.
• Maintain an inventory of normal Technician tools that are not inventoried by the Service department as special tools.
• Stay current with factory technical bulletins and participate in factory-sponsored training classes as appropriate.
• Provide an exceptional customer experience to drive loyalty.
