About The Position

Melloy Chevrolet is hiring an experienced Automotive Service Manager to lead our Chevrolet dealership Service Department in Los Lunas, New Mexico, serving Albuquerque and Central New Mexico. We are looking for a proven dealership service leader with experience managing Service Advisors and automotive technicians, improving technician productivity and shop efficiency, maintaining strong CSI and customer satisfaction, and building an efficient, high-performing Service Department. Chevrolet or General Motors dealership experience is strongly preferred. Experience with Xtime, GM warranty processes, dealership fixed operations, technician productivity, customer retention, and Service Advisor development is highly desirable. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who understands what it takes to run a successful franchised automotive dealership Service Department every day.

Requirements

  • Experienced dealership service professional who understands how to lead people, manage workflow and operate a busy franchised dealership Service Department.
  • Previous Automotive Service Manager or comparable dealership fixed operations leadership experience
  • Chevrolet or General Motors Service Manager experience strongly preferred
  • GM dealership or other franchised automotive dealership experience
  • Experience with Xtime
  • Knowledge of General Motors warranty policies and procedures
  • Strong understanding of technician productivity and efficiency
  • Experience managing, coaching and developing Service Advisors
  • Proven ability to recruit, develop and retain automotive technicians
  • Experience managing shop workflow, scheduling and capacity
  • Strong understanding of dealership service processes and fixed operations
  • Experience improving CSI and customer satisfaction
  • Understanding of customer-pay, warranty and internal repair operations
  • Ability to improve customer retention and repeat service business
  • Strong leadership, communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to establish expectations, measure performance and hold employees accountable
  • Comfortable using dealership technology and performance data to improve results

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach and develop Service Advisors and automotive technicians
  • Improve technician productivity, efficiency and shop throughput
  • Recruit, develop and retain qualified automotive technicians
  • Monitor shop capacity and maximize available technician hours
  • Improve appointment scheduling, dispatching and service-lane processes
  • Maintain excellent customer communication throughout the repair process
  • Drive CSI, customer satisfaction and service retention
  • Monitor repair order count, hours per repair order and effective labor rate
  • Identify workflow bottlenecks and reduce unnecessary vehicle delays
  • Manage open repair orders and aging work
  • Work closely with the Parts Department to improve parts availability and technician efficiency
  • Maintain General Motors warranty policies, procedures and compliance
  • Utilize Xtime and dealership systems to improve scheduling, workflow, customer communication and follow-up
  • Develop processes that increase Service Department capacity and production
  • Maintain high standards for repair quality and customer experience
  • Review department performance throughout the month and take action when opportunities are identified
  • Manage Service Department staffing and operating expenses responsibly
