About The Position

The Automobile Reconditioning and Wheel Technician is responsible for restoring the appearance and condition of vehicles through cosmetic repair and refinishing services. This position performs paint touch-up and repair, wheel reconditioning, scratch and chip repair, buffing, polishing, and general vehicle appearance restoration. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, takes pride in producing high-quality work, and can efficiently complete repairs while meeting company quality standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of automotive reconditioning experience, including wheel repair, paint repair, body shop, or related experience.
  • Knowledge of automotive paint systems, refinishing techniques, and color matching.
  • Experience using sanding, grinding, polishing, and painting equipment.
  • Ability to identify and repair cosmetic vehicle defects.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Ability to work legally in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect wheels for damage, defects, or wear, including cracks, bends, and corrosion.
  • Accurately diagnose issues and determine appropriate repair or replacement options.
  • Perform wheel repairs such as straightening bent rims, welding cracks, resurfacing, and refinishing using industry-standard tools and techniques.
  • Refurbish wheels by repairing cosmetic damage, re-coating, and refinishing wheels to restore their appearance to like-new condition.
  • Perform cosmetic paint repairs, including touch-ups, spot repairs, scratch removal, and refinishing.
  • Repair curb rash, scratches, gouges, and other cosmetic wheel damage on aluminum and alloy wheels.
  • Sand, prep, prime, paint, and clear coat repaired surfaces.
  • Color match paint to manufacturer specifications.
  • Perform buffing, polishing, wet sanding, and paint correction services.
  • Remove surface imperfections, oxidation, and minor body defects.
  • Inspect vehicles before and after repairs to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Operate paint spraying equipment and wheel repair tools safely and effectively.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas and equipment.
  • Adhere to company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and environmental regulations.
  • Document completed repairs and communicate repair status to management.
  • Meet productivity, quality, and turnaround time expectations.
  • Assist with other vehicle reconditioning duties as assigned.
