About The Position

The Automotive Parts Advisor assists all customers, both retail and shop, in selecting required parts in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner. This role involves informing customers of companion part requirements and specials, ensuring they are aware of the full product line. The advisor will also handle phone calls, provide price quotes, pull and fill orders from stock, and manage out-of-stock parts by locating them from external sources and submitting emergency orders if necessary. They will follow up on back-ordered parts, ensure all internal requests are billed correctly, and issue credits for returned parts after verifying purchase and pricing. Maintaining orderly records of repair orders, invoices, and special-order parts, as well as keeping counter areas clean and uncluttered, are key responsibilities. The position also requires participation in training programs, staying current on new products, and assisting the parts manager with a lost sales tracking program. A professional appearance is expected, along with performing other assigned tasks.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Tekion knowledge is a plus
  • Previous dealership experience preferred
  • Toyota/Lexus experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Informs customers of companion part requirements and specials and ensures that the customer is exposed to the full product line.
  • Answers phone calls, providing price quotes and other information.
  • Provides high level of service to internal and external customers.
  • Pulls and fills orders from stock.
  • Notifies parts manager of out-of-stock parts or shop materials that need immediate attention.
  • Locates out-of-stock parts from outside source and submits an emergency order, if necessary.
  • Follows up on back-ordered parts.
  • Makes sure all internal requests for parts are billed on service repair order.
  • Issues credit for parts returned, ensuring that the original invoice, is available so that purchase and pricing can be verified.
  • Keeps orderly records of all repair orders, invoices and special-order parts.
  • Keeps front and rear counter areas clean and uncluttered.
  • Participates in all training programs that are made available.
  • Keeps current on new products and product updates.
  • Participates with the parts manager in maintaining a lost sales tracking program.
  • Maintains professional appearance.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
