Automotive Mechanic - South Mountain Restoration Center
About The Position
South Mountain Restoration Center with the Department of Human Services (DHS) is seeking a dedicated Automotive Mechanic to support the reliable operation of our vehicles and equipment. This role offers the chance to keep an essential fleet running smoothly while supporting a facility that cares for some of our most vulnerable citizens. Requirements
- Four years of experience in the automotive mechanic trade; or completion of an approved apprenticeship; or Any combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.
- Must be in possession of a current driver's license which is not under suspension.
- Must be in possession of a valid Class 1 Inspection Mechanic certificate or equivalent that allows inspection for Class 1 vehicles.
- Must meet the PA residency requirement.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions.
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act. Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
Responsibilities
- Perform repairs on cars, trucks, and equipment ranging from routine fixes to involved mechanical jobs
- Inspect vehicles to meet all state requirements
- Repair engines, transmissions, brakes, clutches, and related automotive systems
- Maintain detailed service records for each vehicle
- Repair emergency generators, air compressors, and other facility equipment
- Dispense gasoline, diesel fuel, and oil for state owned equipment
