Automotive Mechanic Technician II - $1,500 New Hire Tool Bonus
About The Position
This position offers an $1,500 New Hire Tool Bonus. The Automotive Mechanic Technician II performs preventive maintenance, various repairs and maintenance based on certification levels, keeps the shop area clean and tidy, performs work in accordance with safety standards, disposes of fluids safely, creates and maintains vehicle history and maintenance records, and may upfit new vehicles. Additional responsibilities for Level II include performing light to major repairs, advanced vehicle diagnostics, interfacing with vendors for parts and repairs, providing roadside assistance, using custom equipment for moderate design/fabrication tasks including welding, and conducting a wide variety of diagnoses and repairs on systems such as brakes, drivability, emissions, steering/suspension, electrical, HVAC, major engine, and hydraulics.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED (or 3+ years of related work experience servicing vehicles instead of the degree).
- 3+ years of vehicle service and repair experience.
- Ability to drive standard and automatic transmission vehicles.
- Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, reach, talk, hear, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, squat, climb, and tolerate excess noise levels, car exhaust and outdoor weather conditions.
- Must clear a pre-employment drug test. Cox Automotive does not currently administer a pre-employment drug test for marijuana for this position. However, we are a drug-free workplace, so the possession, use or being under the influence of drugs illegal under federal or state law during work hours, on company property and/or in company vehicles is prohibited.
- Applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States for any employer without current or future sponsorship. No OPT, CPT, STEM/OPT or visa sponsorship now or in future.
Responsibilities
- Performs Preventive Maintenance: change oil, oil filter, fuel filter, transmission flush, and inspection of the vehicle for mechanical deficiencies.
- Based upon certification levels, performs various repairs and maintenance which may include: OBD II systems, brake components, tires, tune-ups, suspension components, electrical systems, State Safety Inspections, interior/exterior components, engine and drive line components, etc.
- Keeps shop area clean and tidy. Perform work in accordance with safety standards. Dispose of all fluids in a safe manner and in accordance with all regulations.
- Creates and maintains vehicle history and maintenance records. May up fit new vehicles with the necessary equipment.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
- Performs light to major repairs.
- Performs advanced vehicle diagnostics.
- Assures prompt repairs by interfacing and coordinating with vendors for parts and repairs.
- Provides roadside assistance as needed.
- Uses custom equipment when needed in order to complete moderate design/fabrication tasks including welding.
- Responsible for the efficient diagnosis, repair, and replacement of general automotive parts and accessories.
- Conduct a wide variety of diagnoses and repairs; including but not limited to brakes, drivability, emissions, steering/suspension, electrical, maintenance services, HVAC, major engine, and hydraulics.
