Requirements

  • Eighth grade education or equivalent plus three years practical work experience in auto mechanics or vocational technical school and auto related work experience.
  • This position requires driving. As such, the incumbent must provide a valid driver's license.
  • Regular and Reliable attendance is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Requires certification from the Automotive Services Excellence(ASE) as an Auto Maintenance and Light Repair Technician within one year of employment.
  • Maintenance of certification is a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Performs preventive maintenance of automotive vehicles.
  • Performs diagnosis, repair and/or replaces automotive vehicle safety components such as brakes, steering, stability control, and tires.
  • Disassembles automotive vehicles, inspects parts for failure and/or wear; repairs, replaces, or rebuilds parts utilizing specialized tools and precision measuring instruments.
  • Performs diagnosis, repair and/or replaces automotive vehicle powertrain components such as engine, transmission and transaxles.
  • Assist Auto Technician with complex repairs and provides direction to Mechanic 1 and Auto Service Workers.
  • All other duties assigned within the scope of the classification.
