About The Position

Car Keys Express is hiring a mobile Automotive Key Technician to serve dealerships and fleet operations across a territory in the Syracuse, New York metro area. The technician builds and maintains customer relationships, develops a weekly sales route, and performs automotive key-related services. The role involves driving a company van to dealerships, auctions, and other customer locations; using specialized software to program keys; and completing hands-on vehicle tasks. Technicians also manage inventory, maintain the company vehicle, conduct audits, and keep accurate sales-stop logs. The position offers a Monday-through-Friday business-hours schedule, although long days and extended time driving are part of the work. Employees may also be asked to take on additional responsibilities and can pursue career growth opportunities.

Requirements

• Go-getter attitude and ability to work independently without constant supervision.
• Sales and customer-service experience; commission-based sales experience is preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 21 years of age and a valid driver’s license.
• Familiarity with computers, email, and internet navigation; ability to learn and use specialized key-programming software.
• Professional demeanor and appearance.
• A safe place to park the company van.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, bend, stoop, squat, and stand.
• Ability to enter and exit elevated van doors 30–40 times per day.
• Ability to lift car hoods, disconnect batteries, and enter and exit other vehicles.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and maintain physical endurance in varying conditions.
• Comfort and confidence driving a full-size van for extended periods.
• Willingness to conduct prospecting, pitching, sales, and follow-up with dealership staff, UCMs, and sales managers.

Nice To Haves

• Two to five years of experience in automotive work, cable installation, route sales, or a related field.
• Commission-based sales experience.
• Automotive enthusiasm and familiarity with dealership environments and car culture.
• Hands-on mechanical aptitude and a self-directed, adaptable approach.

Responsibilities

• Support, grow, and maintain business relationships with dealerships and fleet operations in the assigned metro area.
• Develop and maintain a weekly sales route to maximize profits.
• Conduct daily cold and warm outreach, pitch services, close sales, and follow up with customers.
• Perform automotive key programming using specialized software and work with vehicles for diagnostics.
• Manage inventory and maintain the company vehicle.
• Conduct audits and maintain accurate logs of sales stops.
• Drive a full-size company van throughout the assigned territory.
• Perform hands-on vehicle tasks such as disconnecting batteries and removing panels.
