About The Position

Lexus of Naperville is looking for dedicated Automotive Journeyman Technician to join our team as a primary Used Car Technician. This opportunity is perfect for lead techs in the aftermarket with multi-brand experience looking to advance their careers and/or experienced dealership techs with experience working on all makes & models. Requirements

  • Minimum of 4+ ASE Certifications.
  • Component repair ability & familiarity with a wide range of makes and models.
  • Willing and able to perform maintenance, repair, and diagnostic work on the same.
  • Strong Electrical & Engine Performance Diagnostics experience is required.
  • Must be well rounded in the basics of steering, brakes, engine mechanical and HVAC.
  • Qualified candidates to repair vehicles right the first time.
  • ASE Certifications.
  • Best applicants will have 4+ years of successful experience.
  • Ability to read English, do basic mathematical calculations, and comprehend instructions and information.
  • Valid in-state driver's license.
  • Driving history adequate for obtaining vehicular insurance through dealership's commercial insurance carrier.
  • Knowledge of automobiles and their working components, and ability to diagnose and repair automobiles.
  • Effective analytical and communication skills.
  • Ability to learn new technology, procedures and specifications.
  • Ability to drive automatic and manual transmission vehicles.
  • Ability to physically operate any and all equipment required for the job.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull 25 lbs. or greater.
  • Ability to operate a PC, and use dealership software programs.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, push or pull as needed to perform job functions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience and training in diesel repairs ad Advanced Technology Hybrids/Electric cars is helpful

Responsibilities

  • Repair and overhaul automobiles, vans, trucks, and other automotive vehicles in accordance with Dealership and factory standards.
  • Remove, disassemble, inspect, repair and replace units such as engines, transmissions and differential as required.
  • Overhaul or replace fuel system components, blowers, generators, distributors, starters and pumps.
  • Rewire ignition systems, lights and instrumental panels.
  • Realign and adjust brakes, align front ends, and repair or replace shock absorbers.
  • Replace and adjust headlights and install and repair accessories.
  • Examine and diagnose causes of any malfunction on vehicles and discuss with the guest, service advisor, or service manager/director the nature and extent of damage or malfunction.
  • Communicate with parts department to obtain necessary parts.
  • Save and tag parts if under warranty or if requested by the customer.
  • Examine assigned vehicles to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
  • Communicate with service advisor and used car manager if additional work is necessary.
  • Document all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
  • Road test vehicles as necessary before and/or after repair, with or without a guest.
  • Supervise any work of apprentice technicians as assigned.
  • Properly utilize all personal protective equipment.
  • Attend required meetings and training.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned from time to time in the sole discretion of management.
  • Work in a cooperative and professional manner with all personnel.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor while on the job.
  • Treat guests and other members of the public in a courteous manner.
  • Maintain required certifications.
  • Report machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.
  • Ensure that customers' vehicles are kept clean.
  • Keep shop area neat and clean.
  • Maintain dealership-owned tools and manuals.
  • Understand and comply with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA, etc.
