About The Position

Crown North America, a Safe Fleet Brand is seeking full-time Automotive Installers for their Day Shift (6:00am to 2:30pm) in Hammond, IN (East Chicago Area). This role involves performing upfitting tasks to modify brand-new vehicles into police and emergency vehicles. The ideal candidate will have a passion for cars and electronics, enjoy a fast-paced work environment, and want to make a significant impact. Requirements

Experience working with automotive electrical systems.
Experience working with automotive mechanical systems.
A valid driver’s license.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Be a constructive team player and possess and exhibit a positive attitude.
Be detail-oriented and focused on quality workmanship.
Be comfortable in an exciting fast-paced environment.
Must be comfortable working in an industrial environment that may require heavy physical duties. Work will involve frequent standing, bending, twisting, stooping and kneeling.
Will be expected to supply their own basic set of tools commonly used in the performance of automotive repair work. Time will be given to new employees to purchase these items after hire if required.

Nice To Haves

Completed at least two years, preferably graduated, from a four-year trade school, vocational high school or equivalent, with courses in general shop and automotive repair.
A valid mechanic’s license.
ASE Automotive Technician or EVT Emergency Vehicle Technician certified.

Responsibilities

Perform all upfitting tasks, including routing and installing wire harnesses, controllers, partitions, auxiliary batteries, light bars, push bumpers, power supplies, component trays, and consoles.
Disassemble and reassemble factory vehicles.
Read drawings, including electrical schematics with limited help.
Work independently, maintain accurate records, find efficiencies while respecting quality, and contribute ideas to the company.
Potentially perform fieldwork and work varying hours, including some overtime.
