About The Position

Coughlin GM of Newark is seeking to hire a full-time Master GM Technician/Mechanic. This position offers a competitive wage dependent on experience, with a flat-rate hour compensation program that allows you to maximize your earning potential. Requirements

  • Valid Driver's License
  • Certified/senior technician with respective manufacturer.
  • Meets and/or exceeds manufacturer requirements for ASE tests.
  • Completed manufacturer training to perform warranty repairs/recalls on most vehicles, PDI's, maintenance, and minor repairs.
  • Thorough knowledge of automotive parts and systems.
  • Demonstrable mechanical skills and knowledge.
  • Technical training or commensurate technical experience required.
  • Basic Computer skills to utilize timekeeping system.
  • Ability to learn parts department computer inventory and ordering system.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and company personnel.
  • Regular and predictable attendance in-person at an automotive dealership.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
  • Ability to deal with standardized situations.
  • Ability to understand and follow technical manuals.

  • Motivation to continue training and ASE certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Perform warranty repairs/recalls on most vehicles.
  • Perform PDI's (Pre-Delivery Inspections).
  • Perform maintenance and minor repairs on vehicles.
  • Utilize timekeeping system.
  • Utilize parts department computer inventory and ordering system.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and company personnel.
  • Interact with customers, service advisors, and the service manager.
