About The Position

As a Cosmetic Reconditioning Associate II at CarMax, you will help deliver vehicles that meet CarMax’s standards for quality and appearance. The role performs cosmetic inspections, final quality checks, and advanced reconditioning tasks, including paint touch-up, wet sanding, and buffing. You will identify defects, select appropriate repair methods, and help prepare vehicles for customers and auctions. The position also includes moving vehicles on and off the lot, working with customers and teammates, and following Environmental, Health and Safety requirements while maintaining an orderly work area.

The work takes place indoors and outdoors, including in inclement weather, and involves manual tasks and lifting up to 50 pounds. The stated hourly rate is $23.23–$24.10. Requirements

• Complete all CarMax training programs, including online and hands-on modules.
• Read, interpret, and accurately record data for inventory and quality control.

Responsibilities

• Execute standardized cosmetic reconditioning processes at an established pace while maintaining efficiency and quality.
• Perform advanced cosmetic repairs, including paint touch-up, wet sanding, and buffing.
• Complete cosmetic and final quality inspections to ensure vehicles meet customer-ready standards.
• Identify vehicle defects and determine suitable repair methods.
• Support auction preparation and assist with moving vehicles on and off the lot.
• Deliver customer service and collaborate with team members to achieve goals.
• Follow CarMax Environmental, Health and Safety requirements and maintain a clean, orderly work area.

Benefits

• Paid sick time: eligible full-time hourly or commission/incentive-eligible associates can accrue up to 48 hours per year.
• Paid vacation: eligible full-time hourly or commission/incentive-eligible associates receive 80 to 200 hours per year after a 90-day waiting period, depending on continuous service.
• Paid holidays: eligible full-time hourly or commission/incentive-eligible associates receive 8 hours of pay for each of six scheduled holidays per year, plus one floating holiday.
• Holiday premium pay may be available to eligible associates who work on a scheduled holiday due to business need.
• Full-time salaried associates receive paid time away as needed for sick time, vacation, bereavement, jury duty, holidays, and floating holidays, subject to manager approval.
