About The Position

Automotive Detail Manager is responsible for overseeing vehicle cleaning, restoration, and finishing operations to ensure high-quality presentation. Manages detailing staff, maintains workflow efficiency, inspects completed work, and upholds company standards for cleanliness and customer satisfaction. Coordinates scheduling, inventory, and equipment maintenance while delivering consistent, showroom-quality results.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required
3–5+ years of hands-on automotive detailing experience
Proven ability to lead, train, and motivate a team
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Ability to multitask and manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Excellent attention to detail
Strong communication and customer service skills
Ability to handle customer concerns professionally
Experience with scheduling and workflow coordination
Inventory management and supply tracking skills
Basic computer skills for reporting and tracking performance
Knowledge of safety procedures and environmental regulations
Ability to perform physical tasks and lift 25–50 lbs
Comfortable working in various weather conditions
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

Nice To Haves

Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred
Experience in a dealership, body shop, or high-volume environment is a plus
Strong knowledge of detailing techniques (washing, waxing, buffing, paint correction, interior cleaning)
Familiarity with detailing tools, equipment, and chemicals
Understanding of advanced services (ceramic coatings, paint protection film)
Ability to identify paint defects and proper correction methods
Flexibility to work weekends or extended hours as needed

Responsibilities

Supervise, train, and lead detailing staff to ensure high-quality performance
Assign daily tasks and manage workflow to meet deadlines and productivity goals
Inspect completed vehicles to ensure they meet company quality standards
Oversee all detailing services, including exterior washes, waxing, polishing, interior cleaning, and specialty treatments
Maintain and enforce proper detailing procedures and safety protocols
Schedule detailing jobs and coordinate with sales and service departments
Monitor turnaround times and ensure timely delivery of vehicles
Manage inventory of cleaning supplies, chemicals, and equipment
Order supplies and ensure proper storage and handling of materials
Maintain and service detailing tools and equipment
Address customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints professionally
Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction and service quality
Track performance metrics such as productivity, efficiency, and quality scores
Control departmental costs and assist with budget management
Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations
Train staff on proper chemical use and workplace safety standards
Implement process improvements to increase efficiency and quality
Maintain records of completed work and staff performance
