About The Position

Automotive Detail Manager is responsible for overseeing vehicle cleaning, restoration, and finishing operations to ensure high-quality presentation. Manages detailing staff, maintains workflow efficiency, inspects completed work, and upholds company standards for cleanliness and customer satisfaction. Coordinates scheduling, inventory, and equipment maintenance while delivering consistent, showroom-quality results.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 3–5+ years of hands-on automotive detailing experience
  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred
  • Experience in a dealership, body shop, or high-volume environment is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of detailing techniques (washing, waxing, buffing, paint correction, interior cleaning)
  • Familiarity with detailing tools, equipment, and chemicals
  • Understanding of advanced services (ceramic coatings, paint protection film)
  • Ability to identify paint defects and proper correction methods
  • Proven ability to lead, train, and motivate a team
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to multitask and manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to handle customer concerns professionally
  • Experience with scheduling and workflow coordination
  • Inventory management and supply tracking skills
  • Basic computer skills for reporting and tracking performance
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and environmental regulations
  • Ability to perform physical tasks and lift 25–50 lbs
  • Comfortable working in various weather conditions
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Flexibility to work weekends or extended hours as needed

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, train, and lead detailing staff to ensure high-quality performance
  • Assign daily tasks and manage workflow to meet deadlines and productivity goals
  • Inspect completed vehicles to ensure they meet company quality standards
  • Oversee all detailing services, including exterior washes, waxing, polishing, interior cleaning, and specialty treatments
  • Maintain and enforce proper detailing procedures and safety protocols
  • Schedule detailing jobs and coordinate with sales and service departments
  • Monitor turnaround times and ensure timely delivery of vehicles
  • Manage inventory of cleaning supplies, chemicals, and equipment
  • Order supplies and ensure proper storage and handling of materials
  • Maintain and service detailing tools and equipment
  • Address customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints professionally
  • Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction and service quality
  • Track performance metrics such as productivity, efficiency, and quality scores
  • Control departmental costs and assist with budget management
  • Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations
  • Train staff on proper chemical use and workplace safety standards
  • Implement process improvements to increase efficiency and quality
  • Maintain records of completed work and staff performance
