We are currently seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Paint Prepper to join our growing collision center team. This position plays a critical role in preparing vehicles for refinishing and ensuring every repair meets dealership-quality standards. Position Summary The Paint Prepper is responsible for preparing vehicle surfaces for painting by sanding, masking, cleaning, and priming repaired areas. The ideal candidate is hardworking, safety-conscious, and committed to producing high-quality results in a fast-paced dealership collision environment.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a paint prepper, auto body prep technician, or similar collision repair role preferred.
  • Knowledge of automotive paint preparation techniques and refinishing processes.
  • Ability to operate sanding and prep equipment safely and effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a team-oriented environment.
  • Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift materials or parts as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare vehicle surfaces for paint application by sanding, grinding, and feather-edging repaired areas.
  • Apply body filler and sand surfaces to achieve a smooth finish.
  • Mask and tape vehicles to protect trim, windows, and non-painted areas.
  • Clean and degrease panels to ensure proper paint adhesion.
  • Apply primers, sealers, and other preparatory coatings as directed.
  • Inspect prepared surfaces to ensure quality and accuracy before vehicles move to the paint booth.
  • Maintain prep tools, spray equipment, and work areas in a clean and organized condition.
  • Follow all dealership and OSHA safety procedures, including proper PPE usage and chemical handling.
  • Work closely with body technicians and painters to maintain production flow and meet repair deadlines.
  • Support the collision center’s commitment to customer satisfaction and repair excellence.
