About The Position

The Passive Safety Performance Engineer is responsible for ensuring vehicle-level crash safety performance throughout the development lifecycle. The role focuses on occupant protection, crashworthiness, and compliance with global safety standards using simulation, testing, and engineering analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Aerospace, or related engineering field
  • Experience in vehicle crash safety, passive safety, or crashworthiness engineering
  • Strong understanding of CAE simulation tools (LS-DYNA, Abaqus, HyperMesh, or equivalent)
  • Strong understanding of CAD tools (CATIA, NX, or similar)
  • Experience with crash simulation and validation
  • Experience with test data correlation
  • Experience with engineering root cause analysis
  • Knowledge of vehicle structures and crash energy management
  • Familiarity with automotive safety standards and regulations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in cross-functional engineering environments

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute passive safety performance requirements for vehicle programs
  • Ensure compliance with global safety regulations and consumer crash test protocols (FMVSS, NCAP, IIHS, etc.)
  • Perform and support crash simulations including: Frontal impact, Side impact, Rear impact, Rollover scenarios
  • Conduct CAE analysis and correlation with physical crash test data
  • Analyze crash performance issues and perform root cause analysis
  • Work with engineering teams to improve: Vehicle structures, Energy absorption systems, Occupant restraint systems
  • Support optimization of safety systems including: Airbags, Seatbelts, Occupant protection systems
  • Define and validate safety performance targets and metrics
  • Provide engineering recommendations for design improvements
  • Prepare technical documentation and present results to stakeholders
  • Support program milestone deliverables for safety validation
