About The Position

This role is responsible for preparing automotive bodies for painting and refinishing. The Automotive Body Shop Prepper II will mask and protect adjacent panels, clean and wrap vehicles, load and unload paint booths, and ensure vehicles are properly prepared before moving to the next stage of the repair process. The position requires adherence to safety procedures and participation in safety activities. Additional duties may include assisting with training new employees and performing housekeeping tasks.

Requirements

  • 1 year of body shop experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record required.
  • Ability to drive vehicles with standard and automatic transmission.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, talk and hear.
  • Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat and climb.
  • Ability to lift 1-15 pounds (i.e., light hand tools, etc).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to clear a pre-employment drug test.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer without current or future sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Basic computer skills preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Mask/protect any adjacent panels (non-refinish) from scratches or damage before final sanding.
  • Load shop with units according to customer SLAs.
  • Load and unload prime booths.
  • Cleans and wraps vehicles for paint.
  • Loads and unloads paint booths.
  • Unmask and unwrap units after paint.
  • Work with the production schedule to meet deadlines.
  • Clean and remove all dust and other particles from repair/refinish panels completely prior to moving completed vehicles to next step.
  • Visibly demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures and modeling the behaviors related to such.
  • Actively participate in support of all safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • Assist supervisor in training and orienting new employees.
  • Perform housekeeping duties.
