About The Position

This role is responsible for preparing automotive bodies for painting and refinishing. The Automotive Body Shop Prepper II will mask and protect adjacent panels, clean and wrap vehicles for paint, and unmask and unwrap units after painting. The position requires working with a production schedule to meet deadlines and performing other duties as assigned by management. A strong commitment to safety is essential, demonstrated by following all safety and health procedures and participating in safety activities. The role also involves assisting supervisors with training and orienting new employees, and performing housekeeping duties.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 1 year of body shop experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record required.
  • Ability to drive vehicles with standard and automatic transmission.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, talk and hear.
  • Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat and climb.
  • Basic computer skills preferred.
  • Ability to lift 1-15 pounds (i.e., light hand tools, etc).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must clear a pre-employment drug test.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer without current or future sponsorship. No OPT, CPT, STEM/OPT or visa sponsorship now or in future.

Responsibilities

  • Mask/protect any adjacent panels (non-refinish) from scratches or damage before final sanding.
  • Load shop with units according to customer SLAs.
  • Load and unload prime booths.
  • Cleans and wraps vehicles for paint.
  • Loads and unloads paint booths.
  • Unmask and unwrap units after paint.
  • Work with the production schedule to meet deadlines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • Clean and remove all dust and other particles from repair/refinish panels completely prior to moving completed vehicles to next step.
  • Visibly demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures and modeling the behaviors related to such.
  • Actively participate in support of all safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager or supervisor, i.e., assist supervisor in training and orienting new employees, perform housekeeping duties, etc.
