About The Position

Austin Community College is seeking an Automotive Adjunct Faculty member to prepare and deliver automotive coursework. This role involves engaging students in innovative and discipline-appropriate ways, reflecting a commitment to student success and fostering an environment of belonging. The faculty member will meet professional standards in accordance with college policies and procedures.

Requirements

AAS in automotive repair, or higher.
Minimum five years automotive repair experience within the last ten years.
Current ASE Automobile Master certification (A1-A8).
Demonstrated proficiency using computer applications, online resources, and other technologies for the classroom.
Demonstrated proficiency using an online learning management system such as Blackboard to develop and build course content and perform administrative duties.
Meet deadlines for attendance certification and submission of final course grades.

Responsibilities

Prepare and teach courses in automotive technology to a diverse student population, adhering to approved learning outcomes and utilizing varied instructional strategies.
Evaluate student progress and provide timely, clear feedback aligned with program learning outcomes and departmental expectations.
Provide teaching and mentoring services without discrimination based on protected categories.
Engage in professional development activities to stay current in the automotive field.
Perform other related tasks as assigned by department leadership.
Utilize Blackboard LMS for course delivery and administrative duties.
Use Cengage and/or Pearson publishing company instructional materials.
Maintain regular office hours to assist students and enhance retention and success.
Participate in college functions such as graduation and general assembly.
Attend and participate in collegewide, campus, department, or other activities and meetings.
Recognize and reflect standards of civility and collegiality in all interactions.
Comply with published college policies and procedures and meet professional standards for teaching in a community college.
