About The Position

Our Engineering Team is seeking an Automation Test Engineer (ATE). The ATE team leverages deep understanding of both hardware and software to design, implement, verify, and scale the complex infrastructure systems we use for cutting-edge radio development. You would be responsible for designing test cases in TrellisWare’s automation scripting environment and building advanced radio automated test systems. You’ll develop tools and systems for data collection and visualization and perform data-driven analysis of system behavior. Spend your days working on next generation self-networking hand-held radios for our Special Forces or help create new modem technologies for the toughest communication problems such as scalability, robustness, and maximizing throughput. Requirements

  • BSEE, BSCE, BS Physics, or equivalent
  • 1– 8 years’ experience
  • Knowledge of object-oriented design.
  • Knowledge of device drivers.
  • SW development skills with database and web experience.
  • Knowledge of common embedded Linux development tools (i.e. compilers, linkers and debuggers) and Linux subsystems.
  • Windows, Linux GUI and command line tools for software installation and diagnostics.
  • The OSI 7 layers model. Advanced knowledge of layers 1, 2, 3, & 4. Layers 5-7 desirable.
  • Knowledge of RF technology, radio design, and RF test equipment.
  • Familiarity with IP networking.
  • Familiarity with wireless telecommunications and cellular radio systems standards (FDMA,TDMA).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Mobile Ad-hoc Networked (MANET) radios and military communications is a plus.
  • Experience developing embedded software using C/C++ on a Linux platform is a plus.
  • Shell scripting or more advanced programming skills a plus.
  • Hardware design skills and test fixture development using bed of nails a plus.
  • Familiarity with Raspberry PI setup, configuration, and integration.

Responsibilities

  • Design, maintain, and deploy an automated scripting environment and test sequencer.
  • Create and document programming API’s to facilitate the rapid development of automated tests.
  • Create user interfaces that enable easy access to device capabilities.
  • Develop, document, and execute automated test scripts that characterize key performance parameters.
  • Perform detailed data analysis to diagnose and identify performance related issues.
  • Contribute to process improvement and planning of the ATE Team.
  • Support systems engineering of TrellisWare proprietary technologies.
  • Programming in VB.NET, C#, and Python in a product development environment.
  • Test infrastructure development to include programming API’s, user interfaces, data collection, and data post processing.
  • Operating and programming test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, signal generators, radio emulators, network analyzers, RF switch matrixes, and multimeters.
  • Automated test case design and execution.
  • The process involved in generating a test plan from engineering designs and subsequently developing and supporting a system of software test code for units under test, including the development of a test database.
  • Spearheading design for testability (DfT) with HW and SW developers to ensure TrellisWare products have advanced capability for automated testing.
