About The Position

Lanier Technical College is seeking a full-time, salaried, FLSA-exempt, benefit-eligible Automation Technology/Mechatronics Instructor for its Hall/Barrow campuses. This position involves developing and delivering credited technology courses, evaluating student progress, managing supplies and equipment, and assisting with program recruitment and retention. The instructor will also conduct industry advisory committee meetings and work with local committees to identify equipment for advanced manufacturing and artificial intelligence training, particularly within the food production industry.

Requirements

• Associates degree in industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, industrial systems technology, mechatronics, or advanced manufacturing from a regionally accredited college or university.
• Three (3) years of work experience in a position related to industrial technology, mechatronics, advanced manufacturing, or related field.
• Must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the courses assigned.
• Ability to work flexible hours and teach at Hall and Barrow campuses.
• Knowledge of pedagogical practice and theory.
• Knowledge of academic course standards, and LTC’s academic programs.
• Knowledge of the mission of postsecondary technical education.
• Skilled in the operation of computers and job-related software programs.
• Effective oral and written communication skills, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to handle administrative responsibilities related to teaching courses, data collection, & reporting for licensing and accreditation agencies and the College.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, positive attitude and profession appropriate attire.
• Skill in the preparation and delivery of classroom content.
• Skill to work and communicate cooperatively with students, faculty, and staff.
• Ability to develop curriculum and successfully deliver courses in the following areas: Basic electrical and mechanical concepts, Programmable Logic Controllers, Robotics & Automation, Advanced Manufacturing Processes and Artificial Intelligence (special emphasis on the food production industry).

Nice To Haves

• More than three (3) years of work experience in a position related to advanced manufacturing.
• Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, industrial systems technology, mechatronics, advanced manufacturing, or mechatronics from a regionally accredited college or university.
• Previous teaching experience in a post-secondary environment.
• Previous online teaching or training experience including the use of video capture tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop program and course outlines, goals, and objectives.
• Prepare lesson plans for classroom instruction for credited technology courses.
• Develop syllabi to meet program and school objectives.
• Evaluate student progress in attaining goals and objectives.
• Request and maintain supplies and equipment, and prepares required budget requests.
• Maintain program certification requirements, as appropriate.
• Prepare and maintain all required documentation and administrative reports.
• Attend required staff development training, workshops, and seminars.
• Ensure safety and security requirements are met in the training area.
• Meet with students, staff members and other educators to discuss students' instructional programs and other issues impacting the progress of the students.
• Assist with program recruitment, retention and job placement efforts.
• Conduct bi-annual program industry advisory committee meetings.
• Work with local advisory committee to identify equipment to support training in the areas of advanced manufacturing and artificial intelligence as related to the food production industry.
