About The Position

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Automation Technician to support the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of auxiliary conveying equipment within our manufacturing operations. This role is ideal for a hands-on technician with experience in automation systems, controls, and material handling equipment who enjoys solving technical challenges in a fast-paced production environment.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience maintaining automated industrial equipment.
  • Working knowledge of PLC systems, industrial controls, VFDs, sensors, and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read electrical and pneumatic schematics.
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA guidelines and a sharp focus on safety.
  • Operate all equipment in a safe and effective manner.
  • Ability to read, comprehend and retain information.
  • Basic mathematical aptitude and skills.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
  • Tactful, courteous, polite, patient, and professional at all times.
  • Good interpersonal, communication and organization skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience in Automation Technology, Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • Experience with auxiliary conveying equipment, material handling systems, or plastics processing equipment is preferred.
  • Experience with vacuum conveying systems, loaders, dryers, blenders, or centralized material handling systems.
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance programs and root cause analysis.
  • Understanding of industrial networking and communication protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair auxiliary conveying systems and related automation equipment.
  • Diagnose electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and control system issues to minimize downtime.
  • Program, adjust, and maintain PLCs, HMIs, sensors, drives, and automated control systems.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on conveyors, loaders, feeders, vacuum conveying systems, and related equipment.
  • Support equipment startups, commissioning activities, and process improvements.
  • Monitor system performance and recommend modifications to improve reliability, efficiency, and safety.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and maintenance teams to resolve equipment issues.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete work orders in a timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
  • Supports a culture where employees address unsafe conditions and behaviors, make suggestions for improvements, and actively participates in implementing solutions
  • Identifies safety gaps and self-initiates corrective actions
  • Strictly adheres to plant safety, housekeeping, and 5S efforts
  • Understands, identifies, and corrects safety hazards

  • Monitors and verifies activities to ensure that finished goods and raw materials are coming in and out of the facility meet consumer safety and quality standards.
  • Complies with all company food safety and quality assurance procedures
  • Reports any product or process failures that could impact food safety of manufactured products to the location’s Food Safety Team Leader and submits an appropriate incident report
