About The Position

The Automation Technician II - Days - C Shift at Nypro Inc. is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing automated manufacturing equipment to ensure optimal production efficiency and product quality during the designated shift. This role involves working independently and as part of a team to resolve complex technical issues and implement preventative maintenance strategies.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Automation, Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in an industrial automation technician role, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing PLCs (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens), HMI systems, and industrial control systems.
  • Strong understanding of robotic operation, programming, and maintenance (e.g., Fanuc, ABB, Universal Robots).
  • Solid mechanical aptitude with experience in precision assembly, alignment, and component replacement.
  • Familiarity with electrical systems, including motor controls, sensors, and variable frequency drives.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to work the C Shift (specific days and hours to be defined, typically a rotating or fixed night shift).
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and work in various industrial environments.

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on a variety of automated equipment, including robots, PLCs, vision systems, and conveyance systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues on production machinery.
  • Utilize schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance tasks to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
  • Program and teach robotic systems for new products or process improvements.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to identify root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
  • Document all maintenance activities, including repairs, parts used, and time spent.
  • Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment.
  • Train production operators on basic equipment operation and troubleshooting.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment performance and reliability.
