JOB SUMMARY The Automation Technician II is responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting automated systems and equipment used in the production of natural gas. This role requires knowledge of job procedures and tools. Works under moderate supervision. Communicates information that typically requires explanation or interpretation. Problems faced are generally routine and may sometimes require interpretation or deviation from standard procedures. Demonstrates integrity, accountability and transparency; upholds BKV standards, values and culture.

Requirements

  • Understanding of natural gas industry standards, market trends, emerging issues, and regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge and understanding of automation systems including programmable logic controllers (PLC) and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems.
  • Experience with electrical circuits, wiring diagrams, and instrumentation principles.
  • Experience with sensors, transmitters, actuators, and other instruments that control natural gas parameters.
  • Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office and job-related applications.
  • Understands how to use digital tools to make informed decisions.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic fast-paced environment.

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Commensurate work experience considered.
  • Typically requires a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Install and configure automated systems such as programmable logic controllers (PLC) and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems.
  • Conduct routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs of automation systems.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, electronic, and mechanical issues; replace faulty components and perform software updates as needed.
  • Ensure electronic communications systems are accurate and reliable.
  • Calibrate sensors, transmitters, and other instruments used in automation and control of natural gas flow, pressure, temperature, and other parameters.
  • Perform tests to verify system accuracy and reliability.
  • Ensure that automation systems and equipment comply with safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Analyze data to identify trends, diagnose problems, and optimize operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with other team members to diagnose and resolve complex issues.
  • Perform other duties as required.
