About The Position
Howmet Aerospace is looking for an Automation Technician to join their Howmet Casting plant in Wichita Falls, Texas. This role involves installing, programming, and repairing robots and related automated equipment. The technician will use various tools and follow technical documentation to ensure the proper functioning of automated systems.
Requirements
- Understanding of electronic application, electrical circuits, mechanical equipment, pneumatics, hydraulics, and programming of the various controllers and robots.
- Must be able to work an off shift.
- Must pass Jaeger I eye exam.
Responsibilities
- Installs, programs, and repairs robots and related automated equipment, such as programmable controllers, robot controllers, end-of-arm tools, conveyors, and parts orienters.
- Uses power tools, hand tools, and testing instruments.
- Follows manuals, schematic diagrams, and blueprints.
- Reviews related manuals, blueprints, and schematic diagrams to determine tasks to be performed.
- Documents the automation processes throughout the life cycle of the process.
- Participates in quality audits pertaining to Automation.
- Programs robot to perform specified tasks, applying knowledge of programming language using teach pendants, keyboards, control panels, or robot controllers.
- Modifies programs to refine movement of robot using the various controllers.
- Observes robots and related equipment to detect malfunctions, and repairs or replaces defective parts using hand tools and power tools.
- Observes and maintains quality of the automation processes.
- Initiates and maintains documentation throughout the development and qualification process.
- Performs other duties as required.
