Requirements

  • Configuration, installation, and maintenance of electronic microprocessor-based instrument control systems including PLC and DCS control systems.
  • Monitoring facility DCS operations and performance.
  • Providing technical support and troubleshooting for DCS operations.
  • Facilitating the development of programs for improvement.
  • Overseeing construction, verification of proper installation, loop checks, and commissioning of DCS/PLC equipment.
  • Defining spare parts and preventative maintenance requirements for DCS/PLC and related components.
  • Communicating and maintaining proper documentation related to DCS/PLC system status and changes.
  • Coordinating and conducting personnel training for DCS/PLC related items.
  • Reviewing facility instrument maintenance activities to ensure conformity to specifications, codes, and standards.
  • Conducting failure mode analyses.
  • Supporting proposed changes in design based on failure mode analyses.
  • Arranging for contract services support for DCS/PLC program related activities.
  • Developing, updating, and tracking action plans pertaining to DCS/PLC tasks.
  • Communicating progress to Automation Plant Specialist and Automation Lead.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with configuration, installation, and maintenance of electronic microprocessor-based instrument control systems including, but not limited to, PLC and DCS control systems.
  • Monitor the facility’s DCS operations and performance, provide technical support and troubleshooting and facilitate the development of programs for improvement.
  • Oversee the construction, verification of proper installation, performance of loop checks and the oversight of final commissioning of, but not limited to, DCS/PLC equipment.
  • Define spare parts and preventative maintenance requirements for DCS/PLC and related components.
  • Communicate and maintain proper documentation related to the DCS/PLC system status, changes, and coordinate/conduct personnel training for such related items as necessary.
  • Review facility instrument maintenance activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conform to all specifications, codes, and standards.
  • Conduct failure mode analyses to identify units posing excessive failure risks and support proposed changes in design.
  • Arrange for contract services support for DCS/PLC program related activities as required.
  • Develop, update, and track action plans pertaining to DCS/PLC tasks.
  • Communicate progress to Automation Plant Specialist and Automation Lead.
