About The Position

Raytheon Industry 4.0 – Connected Factory & Intelligence (CFI&A) has an immediate opportunity for an enthusiastic, highly motivated, and innovative Automation Systems Engineer (ASE) team member within the Effectors portfolio, focusing on engineering support & sustainment of state-of-the-art robotic assembly cells. The role includes sustainment of production automation solutions (robots, PLCs, HMIs, and vision systems) and implementation of change requests and improvements. The ability to actively manage and adapt to new problems on the factory floor is a critical aspect of the role. This role will merge technical, manufacturing, and business knowledge to drive new innovations across Raytheon. The role has a foundation in controls programming and will allow for knowledge growth on advanced robotic equipment that is transforming the way that Raytheon assembles product. Learning the intricacies of every custom cell and overcoming the inevitable equipment challenges, including mechanical, electrical, and programming, will be paramount to your success. The candidate will work in a highly collaborative team of automation systems engineers onsite in Tucson, AZ, but will be required to operate independently at times.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and less than 2 years of prior experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
  • Ability to obtain Interim Secret DOD U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • Experience working in a collaborative environment
  • Experience with industrial PLCs (Rockwell, Siemens, Beckhoff) or microcontrollers (Arduino, Raspberry Pi) and the accompanying software

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting support and recovery of faults on 20+ pieces of custom robotics around the factory
  • Implement improvements to production automation systems, primarily programming Robotics, PLCs, and Vision Systems
  • Document issues and resolutions in Azure DevOps to properly convey impact to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Update documentation for changes made to deployed systems
  • Liaise with manufacturing engineering and operators to understand and resolve issues
  • Flow down issues and resolutions to first shift team
