About The Position

Raytheon has an opportunity for an energetic and motivated Safety professional to support our robotic safety program within the Environment, Health & Safety department at the Tucson, Arizona site. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced EHS professional to join our team with a focus on robotic safety. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with safety regulations and standards, particularly in environments involving robotics and automation. This position will actively support EHS initiatives and foster a safety-first culture across our facilities.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years’ experience
  • Previous experience in automation and/or robotics
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • In-depth knowledge of national and international robotic safety standards, including ANSI/RIA, ISO, and OSHA guidelines.
  • Certification in robotic safety or EHS (e.g., CMSE® - Certified Machinery Safety Expert, CSP, or equivalent).
  • Experience in an aerospace, defense, or manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proficiency in EHS management systems and reporting tools.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and their application to safety processes.
  • Active Secret level or higher security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise in robotic and automation safety, supporting the design, implementation, and operation of robotic systems in accordance with ANSI/RIA R15.06, ISO 10218, and other relevant standards.
  • Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses for robotic systems, ensuring mitigation of potential safety concerns.
  • Develop and maintain safety protocols, standard operating procedures, and training programs specific to robotic and automated systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, and maintenance, to integrate safety into robotic system designs and workflows.
  • Lead incident investigations related to robotic systems and develop corrective and preventive actions to mitigate risks.
  • Monitor compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other federal, state, and local EHS regulations, with a focus on automation environments.
  • Conduct regular audits, inspections, and safety assessments of robotic systems and automated processes.
  • Stay up to date with advancements in robotic safety standards, regulations, and best practices, and apply them to RTX operations.
  • Support EHS programs, initiatives, and training at the site level to promote a culture of safety and environmental stewardship.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior EHS staff and employees regarding robotic and automation safety.
  • Analysis of leading and lagging safety performance indicators for trends to drive corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with individuals and teams across the business.
  • Effectively organize, prioritize, and address multiple, simultaneous projects or tasks.
