About The Position

Transnetyx is seeking a full-time Automation Software Engineer to join our team in Nashville, TN. This role is focused on designing, building, and supporting the software systems that power our automated laboratory operations. The position blends hands-on software engineering with laboratory automation, robotics, and instrumentation, aiming to improve efficiency, reliability, and scientific throughput. The company is a Global Biotechnology Software Company dedicated to advancing research by helping scientists accelerate discovery through automation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Robotics, Automation, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in .NET (C#) and SQL programming.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of electrical circuits and mechanical engineering concepts.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience producing technical documentation.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams.
  • Currently located in the Nashville Metropolitan Area and able to work on-site daily.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with VB, image processing, or IoT development.
  • 5+ years working with laboratory automation equipment such as ABI, Tecan, Beckman, Brooks, Biotek, Liconic, Hamilton, Cognex, Thermo, Epson, or SPT.
  • Microsoft SQL certification (helpful, not required).

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain software solutions that integrate laboratory automation platforms and robotic systems.
  • Program and debug automation software using .NET (C#), SQL, vendor-specific tools, and custom controls for laboratory instruments.
  • Develop software-based diagnostics, monitoring, and reporting tools to assess automation system health and performance.
  • Identify system and process inefficiencies and recommend software-driven enhancements to improve reliability and throughput.
  • Provide software support for automated instrumentation, equipment, custom hardware add-ons, and related systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve software-related issues impacting automated laboratory operations.
  • Support ongoing maintenance, updates, and optimization of automation software and systems.
  • Participate in a rotating on-call schedule once fully trained.
  • Perform and document IQ/OQ/PQ activities for automated instrumentation, systems, and software components.
  • Create clear, concise technical documentation for software, systems, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to define specifications, evaluate compatibility, and support system installations.
  • Stay current on emerging technologies in automation, robotics, software engineering, and laboratory systems.
