About The Position

The Service Application Engineer quotes and supports DeShazo Automation’s service business for existing customers. The service business includes spare parts and consumables for DeShazo-built equipment, field service support for installed automation equipment, and small custom projects. In collaboration with the Account Manager, the engineer turns customer requests into accurate, competitive quotes and visits customer plants as needed to review requirements and applications. When service workload allows, the position supports senior Application Engineers with concepts, estimates, and proposals.

Requirements

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a technical field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least 3 years of quoting or estimating experience in manufacturing, machining, or automation.
• Experience estimating labor and material costs for machined or fabricated parts.
• Mechanical and electrical aptitude, with the ability to understand automation equipment and customer applications.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings.
• Clear, professional written and verbal communication with customers.
• Ability to travel occasionally to customer facilities.

Nice To Haves

• Mechanical design experience, including concept modeling in SolidWorks.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a technical field.

Responsibilities

• Receive and review service requests for quotation from existing customers and clarify requirements before quoting.
• Quote spare parts and consumables for DeShazo-built equipment, developing shop labor and material costs.
• Quote field service work, including programming changes and maintenance support, coordinating with controls programmers to define scope and labor.
• Quote small custom projects with support from senior Application Engineers.
• Visit customer plants as needed to review needs and applications.
• Prepare quotes in the ERP system and deliver them to customers.
• Release won service orders to Purchasing, Production, and Engineering as appropriate.
• Support senior Application Engineers with concept, estimate, and proposal tasks when service workload allows.
