About The Position

Linde Gas & Equipment Inc. is seeking an Automation & Robotic Welding Service Technician in Grand Rapids, MI, or Tonawanda, NY. This role involves installing, configuring, and training on robotic, collaborative robot, and automation equipment. The technician will perform routine maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs of mechanical, electrical, and software issues in robotic systems. Additionally, they will provide technical support and training to clients, collaborate with engineering teams, maintain service records, uphold safety standards, and assist in developing preventive maintenance programs.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or higher in Welding, Robotics, Automation, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline
  • Proven experience servicing and maintaining automated systems and robotics equipment
  • Strong technical knowledge of robotics, automation, and control systems including programming on platforms such as Fanuc, Panasonic, and Universal Robots
  • Aptitude in welding processes including Gas Metal Arc Welding, Gas Tungsten Arc Welding, and Plasma Cutting
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities with ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work independently and collaboratively
  • Willingness to travel to client sites as required

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Programmable Logic Controllers and Human-Machine Interface systems, combined with strong mechanical and electrical aptitude
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently in a dynamic environment

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and provide training on robotic, collaborative robot, and automation equipment
  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections to ensure robotic systems operate at peak performance
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and software issues in robotic systems
  • Deliver technical support and training to clients on operation and upkeep of robotic equipment
  • Collaborate with engineering and technical teams to resolve complex challenges and enhance system performance
  • Maintain accurate service records including maintenance logs and repair documentation
  • Uphold safety standards and protocols throughout all service activities
  • Assist in developing and implementing preventive maintenance programs to reduce downtime
