About The Position

This 10-week paid internship can be located in Chicago, IL, or Richardson, TX. Automation Programmer Interns are responsible for actively participating in HCSC’s formal internship program that leverages your skills, knowledge, and capabilities while providing meaningful experience supporting business objectives and member-focused solutions. Working closely with cross-functional teams in both business and technical areas, the Automation Programmer Intern will contribute to project work, analyze information, and support the development of solutions that address organizational needs. The Automation Programmer Intern is responsible for learning and applying specific aspects of the organization's processes, programs, and technologies while demonstrating increasing independence and ownership of assigned deliverables. The Automation Programmer Intern position may use emerging technologies to develop sophisticated database solutions. This intern may also design, test, and implement technical production automation solutions to achieve business objectives by utilizing java, visual basic, or any other industry approved software and providing customer support on internally developed applications and processes.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree; rising senior with a major in computer science, information technology, or information management. Other majors may be considered.
  • Graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0.
  • Available for the full duration of the 10-week program.
  • Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States; sponsorship is not available for this role.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Knowledge or experience in C#, VB.NET, SQL and Visual Basic.
  • Practical, developed PC skills, especially Excel, Word, and Access

Responsibilities

  • Own components of project work and deliverables with guidance from an assigned mentor and manager.
  • Conduct research, analyze data and information, and develop recommendations that inform real business decisions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Support departmental initiatives that improve business outcomes and the member and client experience.
  • Develop and deliver a final internship presentation to department leadership covering the project, results, and recommendations.
  • Maintain complete confidentiality of company business and comply with HIPAA, Diversity Principles, Corporate Integrity, and applicable compliance policies.
