About The Position

Monitors automation equipment to ensure they are meeting or exceeding set goals for production and quality standards. This will entail the following processes: grinding, spot weld, press brake, CNC mill, paint, general machines, material handling, etc. Reduce manual labor cost by converting processes over to automation or improving processes.

Requirements

  • Clear and effective communication skills to help promote and deal with situations, morale and team building.
  • Complete or have completed some communication training.
  • Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school with 5 or more years’ experience in manufacturing, preferably metal fabrication; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Leadership training.
  • Minimal of 3 years’ experience in the specific area.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as blueprints, work orders, engineering specifications, safety rules, work rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information, communicates, and responds to questions from team members, customers, and suppliers.
  • Ability to add, subtracts, multiply and divides in all units of measure, using whole number, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Must pass the DeWys competency test.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete and abstract variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must possess good problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must possess a valid Michigan Driver's License to be licensed as a qualified lift truck driver at DeWys Manufacturing, Inc.

Responsibilities

  • Work in conjunction with the team leads to ensure the machines are achieving established goals.
  • Work in conjunction with jigs and fixture / Innovation department to ensure the fixtures needed for the jobs are adequate to meet production needs, quality requirements and repeatability standards.
  • Work injunction with estimating to ensure we can achieve cost effective quotes to meet processes.
  • Work with estimating / Scheduling to identify potential / future work to keep automation equipment busy.
  • Create and maintain consistent clear set up instructions.
  • Conduct offline programing for the equipment.
  • Program management. Create programs needed for the process using a standard method and any logic needed for the set up.
  • Calibration of equipment. Weekly or daily if needed calibration completed to maintain accuracy of the equipment to help maintain the accuracy of the programs.
  • Condition of equipment. Monitor and maintain working condition of equipment to ensure that it is in proper use. Ensure the condition of our machines are maintained. Work injunction with maintenance to ensure equipment is maintained in the correct condition.
