About The Position

The Automation Mechanical Technician (AMT) will perform both basic and advanced tasks and repairs on automation systems and associated components. This role involves working with mechanical, electrical, and computer-controlled systems to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime in a high-tech manufacturing or industrial environment. In fulfilling this role, the AMT works closely with team department members, DSC maintenance, the robotics team, and operations to provide day-to-day support on the automation systems, including specification, installation, and modification of integrated systems, and provide technical support as needed. This position is also eligible for bonus based on performance and subject to the terms of the Company’s applicable plans. Job duties include contact with other employees, operating heavy machinery, and access to proprietary information, raw materials, finished merchandise, and/or other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. The Company therefore has determined that a review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business and its operations and reputation and is necessary to protect the safety of the Company’s staff, employees, and vendors.

Requirements

  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or certification in Automation Technology
  • Two (2) years of automation system or maintenance experience
  • Formal training in or at least one (1) year of work experience implementing Programmable Logic Controls (PLC)
  • At least one (1) year experience with robotics and motion control (i.e. FANUC, ABB)
  • At least one (1) year experience in pneumatics, hydraulics, and electrical systems
  • At least one (1) year experience using hand tools, power tools and precision measuring and testing instruments.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies and follow all EHS (Environmental Health and Safety) regulations and guidelines.
  • Install, calibrate, and maintain automated machinery, robotics, and mechatronic systems.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and software-related issues in automation equipment.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure system reliability and longevity.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project and production teams to optimize system performance.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
  • Program and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, and other control systems such as relay logic, control components, photo-eyes, motor starters, limit switches, proximity sensors, solenoids, etc.
  • Understands basic electrical and pneumatic diagrams, familiar with 12 VDC to 480 VAC electrical wiring or circuits and capable of diagnosing 115 VAC control circuitry
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and system modifications.
  • Perform related tasks as required and maintain a clean, well-organized work environment.
