About The Position

The Automation Maintenance Technician supports Applied Medical’s advanced manufacturing operations by maintaining and optimizing automation and production equipment. This role ensures the reliability, performance, and safety of critical systems used in medical device manufacturing. The Automation Maintenance Technician collaborates with cross-functional teams to minimize equipment downtime, enhance process efficiency, and uphold Applied Medical’s high standards for quality and compliance. This position plays a key role in enabling innovation and consistent production output within a regulated manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED), or at least one year of experience in a maintenance or technical role.
  • Foundational knowledge of electronics, electrical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, or mechanical systems.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve technical issues efficiently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for coordination and documentation.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to managing maintenance tasks independently.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to perform precise maintenance and repair work.

Nice To Haves

  • At least one year of experience maintaining or troubleshooting automation equipment in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), sensors, and industrial control systems.
  • Experience using maintenance management systems and preventive maintenance tools.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma.
  • Understanding of safety standards and regulatory requirements for medical device or high-tech manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance on automated and production equipment to ensure maximum uptime and consistent performance.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues on complex manufacturing systems.
  • Troubleshoot automation components, including sensors, actuators, controllers, and motion systems, to identify and resolve root causes of failures.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to coordinate repairs and prioritize maintenance schedules.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, quality procedures, and regulatory requirements to maintain a compliant working environment.
  • Document maintenance activities, equipment performance data, and repair outcomes accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by recommending process or equipment enhancements to improve efficiency and reliability.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team culture focused on achieving production goals and maintaining a high standard of operational excellence.
