Transform Target’s material handling automation systems to highly automated systems with robotics and transportation systems that are not tied to or require linear product flow. These systems are to have high levels of redundancy and operate in a matrixed flow. Teams work together to ensure a full-service technical solution that meets operational needs and that is sustainable and supported in future years while still having the flexibility and scalability for future change. The collective team has the responsibility for the definition of the automation system technologies that will be deployed in Target facilities. The team supports all automation-related activities including implementation and sustainability and any other automation process integration activity that will help grow Target business. This role will join in a team of high level of technical competency in automated material flow system integrations, implementations and will work closely with internal and external technology partners to integrate the middleware systems necessary to enable flexible, scalable, and reliable automated systems. This will include the use of simulation and emulation solutions with internal and external partners to lead direction and opportunities. This Automation Intelligence and Integration Engineer role will lead supply chain automation and robotic system architecture and engineering standards and support rollout across a large scale of Supply Chain facilities. The role will drive alignment to standards and specifications in partnership with cross-team engineering teams, business stakeholders, vendor teams, UX designers, and data scientists. This role will influence quality delivery and rollout of design elements and architecture requirements for automation solutions to continuously improve facility performance by integrating technology seamlessly. Automation Intelligence and Controls Engineering teams at Target are focused on analyzing, researching, designing, integrating and delivering solutions that provide value to Target’s warehouses. It is vital for this team to continue to be connected to future and alternative options, while maintaining existing solutions. As an Engineer for Automation Intelligence and Integration team, you will work in the design and engineering space across existing, new and future automation solutions that align with overall corporate strategies and key business objectives. This role will focus on material flow end to end, in partnership with data science, project, product, technology and engineering teams to drive artifacts and engineering improvements for all Supply Chain automation solutions. Each Engineer is expected to view each of their solutions they own with a lens on continuous improvement, safety, security and stability that gives the solution a Long-Range Plan and overall business benefit. You will be the integration expert that can extend and flex across a particular effort to deliver based on standards, specifications and industry leading process. It will be important to continue to build strong partnerships with other teams within Target and in the automation industry overall. Artifacts such as a Description of Operations, messaging specifications, software specifications, standards and contracts will be standard expectations across each solution and integration. You will encourage the open exchange of information and viewpoints, as well as inspire others to achieve challenging goals and high standards of performance while committing to the organization's direction. You will foster a sense of urgency to achieve goals and leverage resources to overcome unexpected obstacles, and partner with teams across the organization to help them achieve their goals while pursuing and completing yours.
