About The Position

Siemens Digital Industries Automation is a leader in industrial automation and digitalization, delivering innovative solutions to transform manufacturing operations and build smarter, more connected factories. Our portfolio includes advanced automation controls, sensors, drives, motors, HMI/SCADA systems, industrial process control, MES, digital twin/simulation tools, and equipment maintenance/safety systems. We leverage AI, edge computing, IT/OT integration, and IIoT to enhance productivity, efficiency, and data-driven insights. We are seeking rising and recent engineering graduates for our Automation Genesis program – Discrete Engineering Track. This program is designed to prepare participants for impactful engineering roles within Siemens Digital Industries Automation. The initial six months will be based in Mason, OH, followed by placement in one of our DI Automation hubs or customer regions (including Alpharetta, GA; Elk Grove Village, IL; Chicago, IL; Harleysville, PA; or Detroit, MI) based on business needs. The program consists of two phases. Phase 1 is a 6-month intensive onboarding period with structured training and hands-on projects to develop expertise in our Digital Industries Automation portfolio, business strategy, core processes, professional skills, and application/systems engineering capabilities. Phase 2 is an immersive 12-month period to deepen technical expertise in discrete automation, gain practical experience in designing automation solutions, and refine customer engagement skills. Upon successful completion, participants will transition to a full-time role as an Application Engineer or Controls Engineer within our Technical Consulting teams.

Requirements

  • Eligibility Requirement: This Development Program is designed for individuals beginning their professional careers. Candidates must have completed, or will complete, the required educational credentials prior to the program start date. This program is intended for candidates at an early career stage. Current students seeking an experiential learning opportunity while continuing their studies should consider our internship and co-op programs.
  • Available to start full-time employment on June 7, 2027
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree: Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, Engineering Technology, or Computer Science
  • Strong programming proficiency in any language or environment: IEC 61131-3 (Ladder Logic), C#, Python, C/C++, Java, iOS/Android/web development
  • Strong foundational knowledge of mechanical statics/dynamics, control theory, signals/networking, and/or industrial automation technologies (such as PLCs, CNCs, motors, sensors, drives, Industrial IoT, ethernet networking)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, and active listening skills, with the ability to scope customer needs, define technical requirements, partner effectively with cross-functional teams, and foster trusted customer relationships
  • Demonstrated resilience and ability to troubleshoot complex challenges using a solution-oriented, systems-level approach
  • Must be willing and able to commit to the required relocations: first to Mason, OH for 6 months, followed by assignment to one of our DI Automation hubs or customer regions including (but not limited to) Alpharetta, GA; Elk Grove Village, IL; Chicago, IL; Harleysville, PA; and Detroit, MI. Relocation assistance is provided to hires who must relocate more than 50 miles from their permanent address for each required move.
  • Travel requirements will be a function of assigned projects and will likely range from periods of light travel (5-10%) to periods of higher travel (50%).
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship

Responsibilities

  • Engage in instructor-led training, workshops, and engineering projects to build a strong understanding of Siemens and our DI Automation technology portfolio, while mastering the skills to develop and implement automation solutions for customers in discrete industries.
  • Leverage engineering expertise to provide technical consultation and support specialized pre-sales activities, including scoping customer requirements and contributing to proofs-of-concept and technical demonstrations.
  • Design, develop, test, and commission automation applications using the latest factory automation, motion control, and industrial networking technologies.
  • Master internal technical enablement tools and simulation platforms.
  • Consult with Siemens customers and drive their digital transformation through applications engineering with IIOT, additive manufacturing, digital drive train, and robotics innovations, while reducing time-to-market for our customers.
