About The Position

Hoffer Plastics Corporation is hiring an Automation Engineer to program, repair, and maintain automated machinery and auxiliary equipment throughout its plastics manufacturing plant. The equipment includes devices used for runner removal, part handling, separation, and packing; machinery at presses or in the Assembly department used for secondary operations; and other auxiliary equipment. The role is on third shift, from 11:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.

Requirements

Minimum two-year technical degree in a related field.
Five years of experience in a related discipline.
Mechanical comprehension and a strong understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical applications, and blueprints.
Programming knowledge of PLC systems such as Allen Bradley or Siemens.
Robotics experience and experience with vision detection systems.
Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) software and strong general computer skills.

Responsibilities

Program, repair, and maintain automated machinery and auxiliary equipment.
Diagnose equipment problems, disassemble equipment, and determine the extent of repairs needed.
Make repair parts and replace defective components.
Perform welding and sheet metal operations to repair equipment.
Operate a lathe, vertical mill, drill press, and grinders as required.
Occasionally direct an assigned helper.
Maintain a neat and orderly work area.
Follow safety rules and wear prescribed protective clothing or items.
