About The Position

The Automation Engineer is responsible for supporting, sustaining, and improving automation systems used in manufacturing. The role supports production reliability, equipment performance, quality, safety, compliance, and cost objectives through hands-on automation troubleshooting, programming, equipment support, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, Mechatronics, Mechanical, Automation, Control Systems Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in automation, controls, equipment engineering, or manufacturing support.
  • Hands-on experience with PLC and HMI programming, troubleshooting, and fault finding.
  • Experience supporting automated or semi-automated manufacturing equipment in a production environment.
  • Practical understanding of mechanical systems used in complex manufacturing equipment.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, pneumatic diagrams, and control logic.
  • Experience supporting engineering tasks or projects from start to completion while meeting agreed deadlines.
  • Strong ownership, communication, problem-solving, and follow-through when resolving production or project-related issues.
  • Ability to work effectively in a global, multicultural, and cross-functional team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs.
  • Experience with Ignition SCADA.
  • Experience with FANUC robots.
  • Experience with machine vision, servo/motion control, industrial networks, and data acquisition systems.
  • Experience in medical device, pharmaceutical, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Understanding of Lean, Six Sigma, structured problem solving, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Support and sustain automated manufacturing equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and consistent production performance.
  • Troubleshoot automation and equipment issues involving PLC, HMI, robotics, SCADA, sensors, actuators, motion systems, vision systems, pneumatics, and mechanical mechanisms.
  • Provide hands-on support for production issues, breakdowns, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Support automation changes, equipment upgrades, and improvement projects from start to completion.
  • Manage assigned tasks independently, communicate progress clearly, and meet project deadlines.
  • Create, update, and maintain technical documentation, equipment records, and change-related information in accordance with applicable QMS requirements.
  • Work effectively with local and global teams in a multicultural and cross-functional environment.
  • Learn, follow, and adhere to ISO 13485, GMP, OH&S, and internal quality system requirements, with guidance from the Engineering and Quality teams where needed.
