About The Position

GDIT is seeking a motivated Automation Developer to support automation, event management, systems integration, and modernization within a mission critical Department of Defense infrastructure environment. This position is ideal for a systems or infrastructure developer with a strong foundation in Linux, scripting, automation, or systems integration who wants to expand their expertise across enterprise monitoring, event management, network management, and infrastructure automation technologies. The selected candidate will work alongside experienced engineers and develop expertise in IBM NetCool, Ansible, GitLab, systems integration, scripting, and automation across a broad portfolio of enterprise infrastructure applications.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional experience in one or more of the following: Systems administration, Infrastructure engineering, Infrastructure automation, DevOps, Systems integration, Enterprise application support, Network management, Monitoring or event management.
  • At least 2 years of hands on experience with Linux, scripting, automation, or systems integration.
  • Experience supporting production enterprise IT environments.
  • Hands on experience with at least two of the following: Python, Bash or Shell scripting, Ansible, Git or GitLab, Linux administration, REST APIs, Configuration management, Enterprise monitoring, Network management.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance or higher at time of hire.
  • Current CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent certification meeting applicable DoD cybersecurity workforce requirements.
  • Current certification in automation, Linux, networking, DevOps, or enterprise infrastructure, such as: RHCSA or RHCE, Red Hat Ansible certification, CCNA, GitLab certification, Linux Foundation certification, Equivalent infrastructure automation, Linux, networking, or systems engineering certification.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Python, Bash, or other approved scripts to automate recurring infrastructure and application activities.
  • Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks supporting approved infrastructure and application administration.
  • Use GitLab or other approved source control tools to maintain automation code, configuration, documentation, and version history.
  • Identify manual processes that can be standardized, simplified, or automated.
  • Develop automated system and application health checks and validation processes.
  • Learn administration and operation of the IBM NetCool event management environment.
  • Support event ingestion, filtering, enrichment, correlation, prioritization, and escalation.
  • Support NetCool configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, upgrades, and event management improvements.
  • Support integration among infrastructure platforms using APIs, scripts, SNMP, syslog, structured data, and other approved interfaces.
  • Troubleshoot data flows and integrations between monitoring, event management, infrastructure management, and IT service management technologies.
  • Work with network monitoring and Linux administrators to automate recurring operational activities.
  • Support application upgrades, maintenance, configuration changes, vulnerability remediation, and troubleshooting.
  • Participate in root cause analysis involving multiple systems or technical interfaces.
  • Maintain architecture documentation, interface documentation, automation repositories, operating procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Participate in cross training, business hours operational support, and scheduled on call support.
