About The Position

This entry level position assists in the oversite and program development of HLD Automation Systems. The position will work as a part of a team to troubleshoot automation systems, manage vendors, and in field automation systems. Develops and implements methods and procedures for process control, process improvement, testing, and inspection to ensure that the products are free of flaws and function as designed. Designs and installs sophisticated testing equipment and performs product testing and analysis to maintain quality levels and minimize defects and failure rates. Analyzes reports and defective products to determine trends and recommend corrective actions. Collaborates with suppliers about quality problems, ensures that effective corrective actions are implemented, and contributes to supplier quality improvement programs. Provides specific functional expertise that is theoretical and conceptual in nature. This expertise is typically acquired through a combination of university education and experience within a field. Applies working knowledge of theories, practices, and/or procedures within job discipline. Broadens capabilities and understanding of the company processes, and customers. Performs mostly routine assignments and resolves common issues by using precedents or seeking guidance. Assesses straightforward problems and proposes solutions based on analysis of factual information, experience, judgment, and precedents. Impacts quality of own work and the work of others on the team. Shares factual information with other team members. Receives guidance on a regular basis. Entry-level to UPS’s professional career track. Typically requires a four-year degree or equivalent experience.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products (Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint)
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National of the U.S., an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. for this employer.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s Degree in Engineering or other STEM field
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Programming experience including troubleshooting

  • basic understanding of motor control theory
  • 1+ years AutoCAD experience

Responsibilities

  • Interface with Ops to help coordinate automation implementation, use, day to day issues, and maintenance
  • Maintain automated systems utilizing Computerized Maintenance Management System
  • Verify implemented changes
  • Assist with facilitating spare part inventory audit program
  • Develop and maintain goals related to system reliability
  • Understand the basic functionality of Program Logic Control (PLC) and controls systems
  • Ording spare part replenishment
  • Maintain a high level of safety culture within teams
  • Other responsibilities as assigned
