About The Position

The Automation Controls Engineer assists higher-level engineers with manufacturing equipment. The role involves evaluating, selecting, ordering, installing, setting up, designing modifications for, testing, troubleshooting, and improving equipment performance, as well as establishing maintenance procedures. The engineer applies electrical, mechanical, and software engineering principles to create and maintain automated processes. Responsibilities also include electrical design for new and modified panels, including sizing wires, breakers, and components in accordance with NEC and NFPA regulations. The role requires managing multiple projects independently and collaboratively, delivering driven and cost-effective results under tight deadlines.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
Good understanding of electrical, mechanical, and software engineering principles for creating and maintaining automated processes.
Strong AutoCAD skills for producing technical plans, blueprints, electrical layouts, drawings, and models.
Strong ability to program PLCs, HMIs, and industrial networks.
Strong proficiency in setting up and programming VFDs.
Working knowledge of applying engineering science and technology to produce products.
Ability to perform electrical design for construction of new and modification of existing electrical panels, including sizing wires, breakers, and components and following NEC and NFPA regulations.
Proven ability to manage several projects simultaneously and work independently under tight deadlines with driven and cost-effective results.
Strong analytical, math, data-analysis, problem-solving, root cause analysis, research, and project management skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with people at all levels in a diverse environment and adapt to different interpersonal styles and communication methods.
Effective English reading, writing, and speaking skills, as well as presentation skills.
Proficiency in Office 365, particularly Excel, as well as Word and PowerPoint.
Must be willing and able to work occasional overtime.

Nice To Haves

Experience with Omron PLCs and Omron or Proface HMIs.
Experience in chemical manufacturing processes or powder handling.
SolidWorks skills.

Responsibilities

Assist higher-level engineers in evaluating, selecting, ordering, installing, and setting up manufacturing equipment.

Test and troubleshoot equipment and improve its performance.
