About The Position

Taiga is a rapidly scaling off-road electric vehicle technology and manufacturing company seeking a Controls Engineer on our Automation Team to design, program, and implement advanced automated manufacturing technologies and equipment into our manufacturing facilities. As a member of the Industrial Automation group, you will be part of a fast-paced and dynamic team to design and implement automated assembly equipment to manufacture Taiga’s innovative powersports vehicles. Furthermore, you will interface with design and quality engineering to solve problems, improve manufacturability, and design production equipment that meets stringent time and quality demands. The ideal candidate must have a strong motivation to learn new technologies and must possess excellent organizational skills, as well as a strong eye for detail. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Electrical / Software Engineering or equivalent
  • 2-4 years experience in electrical design and Structured Text programming
  • Strong eCAD proficiency (NX Electrical experience is a strong asset)
  • Strong IPC programming proficiency (Beckhoff TwinCAT experience strongly preferred)
  • Experience with connected devices and industrial networks (EtherCAT, OPC-UA, MQTT, TCP/IP…)
  • Knowledge of industrial robot programming (Kuka preferred)
  • Experience in selection and integration of automation components, such as IPC controllers, sensors, electrical drives, etc.
  • Meticulous, attention to detail and innovative mindset
  • Good aptitude for new technologies and mechatronic systems
  • Great communication skills
  • Able to work autonomously and as part of a team

Nice To Haves

  • Hands on technical background in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in Automotive or Powersports Industry, especially with electric vehicles

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement industrial control systems and control panels from start to finish
  • Create detailed electrical drawings conforming to industry standards.
  • Select and integrate automation components such as industrial computers, sensors, drives, safety components, etc.
  • Perform software design and programming on various automation control systems (IPC, HMI, Industrial Robots, servo controllers…)
  • Work together with software engineering and production management to implement connected automation equipment to company tracking systems
  • Acts as liaison with manufacturers and suppliers of equipment and components to ensure all parts are manufactured to design
  • Assist in implementation, assembly, and commissioning of new machines and equipment
  • Analyze existing control systems and lead improvement initiatives
  • Troubleshoot automated machines and prepare / perform maintenance procedures
  • Prepare diligent documentation and collaborate with other team members both within automation and cross-functionally within Taiga
