About The Position

This position is for an Automated UT Operator for the Fall 2026 Nuclear Outage Season. Overtime is authorized, and a travel per diem of $172.00 per day is provided. Positions are available, and candidates must be available for training in June 2026. The role requires the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work in a fast-paced environment, performing both independently and as part of a team. Candidates will receive job-specific training to navigate UT software for conducting and completing automated UT examinations. Knowledge and experience integrating and setting up complex computerized tooling systems, including network pan tilt zoom camera operations, are expected. Operators are responsible for building and reviewing setups, calibration sheets, and essential variables, and must understand how to set up their work location and connections from the motion controller to the acquisition unit and laptops. Proficiency in performing Thickness and Contour (T&C) on components is required. Operators work remotely and must be able to adapt to customer-specific tools. Understanding "flow" and the ability to read isometric drawings, vessel rollouts, shroud rollouts, or relevant maps is necessary. Competent mechanical and electrical problem-solving skills are needed to troubleshoot system failures and complete repairs. Operational knowledge of wireless and wired communication systems is required. Candidates must be competent in reading isometric drawings and navigating nuclear power plants to walk down components. Additional expectations include willingness to travel for outages (3-12 weeks per season) and for training/testing in Houston, TX, San Jose, CA, or Wilmington, NC. Candidates must be dependable, fit for duty, and punctual, working 10-12 hours a day, 6-7 days a week. They should be highly motivated, self-starters, capable of working in a cohesive team, maintain a questioning attitude, be willing to listen to directions, and take initiative in new situations.

Requirements

  • Minimum 40 hours of UT discipline in Classroom & Lab Training
  • Minimum 215 hours of OJT experience in UT discipline
  • Minimum 400 hours in any NDE discipline
  • Mechanical aptitude and Electrical background required
  • Accuracy and thoroughness in work
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, at elevated heights, and high temperature environments
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Clean background with no outstanding/pending legal charges
  • Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test at time of hire and random
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Non-US Citizen must hold current work visa or green card
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to perform both independently and part of a team
  • Previous experience in an automated/robotic environment
  • Proficiency at performing Thickness and Contour (T&C) on components
  • Ability to quickly adapt to and become familiar with customer specific tool
  • Competent in mechanical and electrical problem-solving
  • Ability to troubleshoot causes of system failures and complete necessary repairs
  • Operational knowledge of both wireless and wired communications systems
  • Competent in reading isometric drawings
  • Navigating through the nuclear power plant to walk down components, as needed, using pictures, component labeling, and piping configurations
  • Willingness to travel, 3-12 weeks per outage season, and to Houston, TX, San Jose, CA or Wilmington, NC for training, and or testing
  • Dependable and able to report to work fit for duty, and on time
  • Ability to work 10-12 hours a day, 6-7 days a week

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in an automated/robotic 3D environment, such as AutoCad, VR, etc…is a plus.
  • Phased Array Training (80 HRS total = 40 HRS Classroom and 40 HRS Lab).
  • Held unescorted access in a domestic nuclear power plant in the last 365 days is preferred.
