About The Position

Hennepin Technical College is seeking two (2) Automated Systems and Mechatronics Technology Instructor dedicated to excellence in career and technical education who desires to become part of an environment that values trust, integrity, pride, passion, respect, collaboration, innovation, continuous improvement, and diversity. Requirements

  • Associate degree from an automated systems and mechatronics, electrical/mechanic systems or fluid power program.
  • Four full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience in automated systems and mechatronics, electrical/mechanic, or fluid power.
  • One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field.
  • The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
  • course construction (credit course) teaching/instructional methods (credit course) student outcomes assessment/evaluation (credit course) philosophy of community and technical college education (credit or non-credit course)
  • Faculty shall have a degree in education or three years of successful full-time (or equivalent) teaching experience prior to being hired, or shall be required to complete coursework in the above content areas (or their equivalent) prior to being granted unlimited status.
  • These courses shall be waived for individuals who at the time of hire have: a degree in education, or have documented evidence of successful completion of equivalent coursework in the specified teaching and learning content areas, or have three years of successful, full-time (or equivalent) secondary, postsecondary, industry, or trade apprenticeship teaching experience in the field for which they are being hired.   • This course shall be waived for individuals who, at the time of hire, have documented evidence of successful completion of equivalent coursework. (Procedure 3.32.1 College Faculty Credentialing, Part 5, Subpart B.3)
  • Applicant must be legally authorized to work in the US at the start of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 year degree in Automation Robotics Engineering, Packaging, Electronics, Industrial Electricity
  • Previous training/teaching and instructional design experience
  • Familiar with Allen Bradley PLC's and HMI's
  • Familiar with Siemens PLC
  • Experience with VFD, stepper motors, servo Motors, and linear actuators
  • Experience with Industrial Control Systems
  • Experience with industrial electricity: DC, AC, 3-phase
  • Experience with Packaging machinery or Printing industry machinery
  • Knowledge of Mechanical Systems
  • Experience with Industrial maintenance & repair
  • Experience with Sensors and Vision Systems
  • Master Electrician

Responsibilities

  • Primary teaching responsibilities, which may include lab instruction and technical skills.
  • Continuous curriculum development, including the design, revisions, and implementation of instructional materials and assessment of learner outcomes.
  • Integration of assessment activities into teaching practices and participation in department and college-wide assessment of student learning.
  • Support of the success and development of students through the use of a variety of instructional methods, available office hours, and by providing additional resources.
  • Development and implementation of on-campus or any of our locations during the daytime, evening or weekend in order to maximize enrollment and meet the needs of our diverse student population.
  • Contribution into department decisions on budget, scheduling, textbook selection etc.
  • Participation in discipline, team, campus, and college matters through service on committees; attendance at regular meetings; and continued professional development.
  • Support and advance the department and college mission through ideas and projects.
