About The Position

The Auto Parts Associate supports CarMax’s service department by ensuring technicians and customers receive the correct parts in a timely manner. The role manages inventory, assists with part identification, processes shipments and returns, controls supplies, and uses CarMax systems to allocate parts and document transactions. It also involves providing customer service, maintaining a clean and orderly work area, and following Environmental, Health and Safety requirements. CarMax-provided training in parts processes is required.

Requirements

• Ability to read, interpret, and record data accurately for inventory and transactions.
• Intermediate PC skills, including spreadsheet proficiency.
• Strong collaboration skills to work effectively across departments.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on your feet for extended periods.
• Effective verbal communication skills for customer and team interactions.
• Completion of CarMax-provided training in all parts processes.

Responsibilities

• Identify and provide accurate parts for internal and external customers to support timely vehicle service.
• Receive, stock, and maintain inventory, including conducting cycle counts and maintaining proper stocking levels.
• Process shipments and returns, including incorrect or defective parts, while ensuring vendor compliance.
• Control supplies to minimize waste and maintain cost efficiency.
• Allocate parts using CarMax systems and maintain accurate documentation.
• Provide customer service through clear communication and problem-solving.
• Follow CarMax Environmental, Health and Safety requirements and maintain a clean, orderly work area.

Benefits

• Paid sick time: eligible associates can accrue up to 48 hours per year.
• Paid vacation time: eligible full-time hourly or commission/incentive associates receive 80 to 200 hours per year after a 90-day waiting period, depending on years of continuous service.
• Paid holidays: eligible full-time hourly or commission/incentive associates receive 8 hours of pay for each of 6 scheduled holidays per year, plus 1 floating holiday.
• Holiday Premium Pay for eligible associates who work on a scheduled holiday due to business need.
• Full-time salaried associates receive paid time away as needed for sick time, vacation, bereavement, jury duty, holidays, and floating holidays, subject to manager approval.
